Blog Journal 5: Diigo and Blogs

Diigo is a discussion website that the Educational Technology class has implemented. I am not a fan of this website. The aesthetics are not my favorite, I think they could have made it look nicer. It reminds me of Reddit in its operation, but Reddit is cleaner-looking. On Diigo, you can post topics or questions, and other people can respond. Most of these posts are confined to groups you can join. I also find this website difficult to operate. It took me awhile to figure out how it worked, and even after that I struggle to find the right buttons. It is hard to make a new post, and even hard to find out how to join a group. Thankfully, I am better at operating it now. Maybe it was just me? Am I bad at operating this website? Who knows.

I have also been blogging since the start of Educational Technology. I enjoy blogging. I like being able to write my thoughts down and put them out there. I am used to blogging though. I have my own blog I started in high school that talks about my Christian faith and my life. Of course, I like being able to talk about topics I choose better than school assignments, but thinking about and discussing the posed topics is interesting as well. There are a lot of required blog posts that I don't normally think about, so writing about those topics is an interesting break from my normal writing.

  1. Diigo is definitely not the prettiest website but it is a great tool to facilitate collaborative knowledge sharing. Next week, we can explore it together a little bit in class. You probably will find it easier to navigate.

In addition, you should also write a paragraph on Web 2.0 technologies.
